Some Pointers for Before, During, and After a Swim Meet
Obviously bring yourself and a swimsuit, but there are number of items to bring to help things run smoothly and for everyone to have a great time and do their very best.
Before the Meet:
Eat well and Drink lots (starting 3 Days prior)
Check e-Mail or Web site for Start times, Warm-up times, and Directions
Arrive at least 15 Min prior to Warm-ups.(Warm-ups start promptly)
If it is a Home meet and you are scheduled for set-up – please arrive no later than 3:30 (10&Under Parents are responsible to set up for home meets)
Get set-up and Check-in with Coaches
Get a Heat sheet or work with Tent Mom and write events on swimmers arm or leg
What to Bring (It is a good idea to write your name on everything you bring):
Team Swim Suit, Cap, and goggles
Towels at least 2 per swimmer
Shoes, Flip-Flops, or Crocks seem to work best
Drinks: Water, Fruit juice, Gatorade
Snacks: Granola bars, Fun fruits, yogurt, cereal, jello cubes, sandwiches, Raisins
Bath-Robe / Hoody & Sweat Pants
Extra towels - leave in the Car
Sharpie/Pen/ Hi-liter
Games: travel games, coloring books, books, anything to pass the time
Chairs for the swimmers and maybe your self
Did we mention leaving extra towels in the Car?
During the Meet
The swimmer is responsible to be at the blocks for the race – listen to the tent mom for when to line up!(Parents are not allowed in the staging area – please see Clerk of Course with concerns)
Stay Warm and Dry in between events
Stay off your feet (Sit or lay down)
Best Sportsmanship at all times
Participation in end of meet relays, Check with coaches or tent mom for assignments.
After the Meet
Clean –up your area
Lots of positive feedback
Great time to discuss and set goals for the upcoming weeks!
If it is a home meet and you are scheduled for clean-up (11 & Over Parents are responsible to clean up for home meets), please make sure you stay until everything is complete.To avoid negative feedback from the neighbors and HOA, it is very important that we leave it as we found it and report any and all damage that may have occurred.
